Gobo Slides

Glass Gobos

Gobos that contain simple shapes are made out of sheet metal, however, a majority of gobo images are more complex and include coloured graphics which are reproduced on glass. Typically any free area in a metal gobo needs to be connected via a web, such as the inside of the letter ‘O’. Glass gobos, on the other hand, do not require this web so the creative capacity of producing glass gobo slides is limitless. Logos, graphics or texts can be projected with extreme definition to the public. Even photographic pictures can be transferred onto glass gobos using a four coloured raster grid (CMYK). This can be used long-term in a professional setting and hold its colour clarity, whereas traditional slides and films start to fade after some time.

Quality

At Enlightening, we offer the finest custom gobos available anywhere. We guarantee the most precise rendition of your logo, graphic, text or other image. Our proprietary, innovative laser technology renders high-resolution grayscale and near photographic quality gobos in either black and white or brilliant full colour. Our gobos are made from the finest materials and withstand extremely high temperatures and UV light emissions from high-powered projectors and scanners. Our gobos are available for all projectors with a diameter of 22.5 – 105mm.

SIZE CHART

Enlightening can make all gobos from 22.5 up to 105mm in diameter. Due to the number of different projectors on the market and the continual technical changes made by the manufacturers, it’s important that you include the measurement of your gobos with your enquiry. You’ll find this information in the manufacturers instruction manual. Examples of gobo sizes are shown in the chart below.

PRICE & DELIVERY

Enlightening is able to offer significant savings on colour gobo production. Other gobo manufacturing processes charge for a full colour gobo as soon as 2 or more colours are required. Our technology allows us to charge less for gobos that have only 2 or 3 colours than a full coloured gobo. This includes many corporate logos. Please refer to the below section to see how we differentiate our colour gobos into 7 different categories.

Standard delivery time is 7 business days after receipt of your artwork. Please ensure at least 2 weeks notice of your gobo order, including delivery time, so we can perfect the image and apply any necessary corrections before production. Rush orders to reduce this time are possible on a case by case basis.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

Enlightening can only create gobos that are as good as the artwork supplied. Our gobos are made using state-of-the-art laser technology, featuring the highest optical resolution and pure, brilliant colours. Please note that resolution of details, sharpness and brilliance require high quality artwork.

Artwork of insufficient quality, sketches or blueprints cannot be processed in a direct way.

COLOURS

Enlightening usually matches the colours of customer artwork with our standard colour palette, including 15 different dichroic colour filters. We guarantee the exact match of colours only under suitable projection conditions.

All colours are based on projection onto a neutral white surface with 5500°K lamp.

In case your artwork requires a colour that does not match with our standard colour palette, this colour can be achieved by combining dichroic filters. Please specify special colour requirements at the time of your order. We will immediately give you information about additional charges.

Please keep in mind that precise colour specifications are only possible when using standardised colour systems, e.g. Pantone-System, HKS-colours. We strongly recommend using a standard printed colour chart to determine a certain shade of colour.

VECTOR FILES

Vector data describes simple or complex graphics which use mathematical formulae to set out the origin, direction, size and colour etc. of an area or line. The essential advantage of vector data is that the graphics can be blown up to any size without any loss of quality. Vectorised artwork is used for line art, graphic art that includes single colour areas, text and logos.

Please keep in mind that our computer systems may not necessarily contain the same fonts that are installed on your computer. It is very important to convert text into line art before you send your vectorised artwork files. Artwork files which are attached to emails should not exceed a size of 10 MB.

If your text is not converted into line art, characters may not be displayed correctly. Suitable file formats include:

– Adobe Acrobat (.pdf)
– Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
– Corel Draw (.cdr)
– Encapsulated Postscript (.eps)

Gobos can be made under the following categories:
– Black & White
– Black & Colour
– Colour 1
– Colour 2
– Colour 3

PIXEL FILES

Pixel data is recommended for use in reproducing photographic material. All digital cameras and scanners use pixel data to read black and white or colour photographs, and graphic art that includes colour gradients or greyscale. Large data is often required to reproduce detailed and sharp photographic images.

The minimum resolution of a pixel file should be 600 dpi, and the artwork size no less than 7×7 cm (2.8 x 2.8 inches). A small pixel file cannot be digitally enlarged through interpolation to achieve the required resolution and artwork size. Subsequently, a higher resolution may lead to better results and missing details due to a lack of resolution cannot be restored using the computer. It is important that the original artwork files comply with our quality requirements.

By way of an exception, pixel files can be compressed to a low degree, e.g. as jpeg files. In many cases compression of pixel files generates a loss of quality.

Suitable file formats include:

– Adobe Photoshop (.psd where all text layers should be rendered)
– JPEG (.jpg with the file quality set as “high” or “maximum”)
– TIFF-Bitmap (.tif)

Gobos can be made under the following categories:
– Greyscale
– Multicolour
